Setting Up Organizational Unit Technology Opportunities

Organizational Unit Opportunities page helps you identify where the highest technology impact exists across different parts of your organisation

This view is especially useful for workforce planners, people strategists, and tech strategy teams who need to pinpoint which departments or divisions offer the strongest automation or augmentation potential.

This is the first step in narrowing down your analysis from the high-level Technology Opportunities Dashboard into more specific organisational contexts.

Select Your Preferred Setups

Before viewing unit-level insights, you configure three key settings. These settings shape the results and ensure the data aligns with how you want to measure impact.

1. Impact Type

You can choose one or both:

  • Automation — tasks replaced or reduced by technology

  • Augmentation — technology that enhances human capability

This determines whether your analysis leans toward efficiency (automation), capability uplift (augmentation), or a combined view.

2. Unit of Analysis

This defines how technology impact is measured. Options include:

  • Weekly Hours (40-hour standard)

  • Total Hours

  • Relative FTEs (impact relative to a sub-task or fractional workload)

  • Weighted Salary (cost of tasks as a portion of annual salary)

The example on the screen shows Relative FTEs selected, but any option can be used to reframe the magnitude of impact.

3. Efficiency Target (Optional)

You may choose to set an organisation-wide efficiency target. This helps quantify how much of the total available opportunity you want to capture.

The example shows:

  • Target: 250 FTEs

  • Available opportunities: 1,000 FTEs (25% of total)

This setting helps translate insights into practical goals for your workforce strategy.

What Happens Next

Once you’ve configured your setups, selecting Let’s get started will generate a refined breakdown of opportunities across your organisational units. You’ll be able to:

  • Compare units by FTE impact or salary impact

  • Identify units with the strongest technology uplift

  • Drill deeper into roles, tasks, and technologies within each unit

  • Build a clearer picture of where to prioritise investments

This view acts as a gateway to more granular analysis—such as job families, task groups, technology categories, and sub-task insights.
