How is Job Addition modelled?

The implementation of emerging technologies will require a number of new jobs, including: data scientists; software engineers; change- and project-managers; and educational trainers. We predict the future hiring needs for these jobs based on each of the 17 individual technology impacts. 

For each technology type, we have identified a team of professionals necessary to implement these technologies. The number of required hires is then calculated based on the extent of automation and augmentation over time by the technology. 

The ratio of how many FTE hires to those FTEs augmented and automated is calculated based on the 'complexity' of the organisation as measured by the number of unique roles and org units within the organisation (and is based off our benchmarking of organisations).

As an example, if the technology 'Programmed Intelligence' leads to the automation and augmentation of 600 FTEs, and the 'complexity' measure for the organisation is calculated to be 0.17 (value btw 0 to 1), this means that 600*0.17 equals 102 new hires. 

We find most companies average around a hiring ratio of 6:1, meaning for every 6 FTEs impacted, a single FTE hire is required to make it happen once we have calculated the number of hires, we then find the correct proportion of hires from the team (i.e. job mix) required for that technology. 

For example, if Programmed Intelligence requires 100 FTE, we take the 100 from the Programmed Intelligence team. We then do the same for each of the 17 technologies. We do not look at your current workforce to determine how many of each technology implementation job you may already have. We assume that all these roles are currently working on projects and not available. We also do not factor in attrition assumptions.
